xolove asked: I am currently enrolled in private lessons for the guitar and even though I am practicing, I’m not quite getting to where I want to be at. The reason why I enrolled for lessons was because I wanted to learn to play by the use of chords but my teacher appears to only be teaching me to play with single strings. If I wanted to learn by myself, how should I start? Should I try memorizng as many chords as possible? I only know 7.

chicki_love1000 asked: I really just want to learn by watching first so I can sort of get the feeling of playing the guitar. If you know of any good youtube tutorial vids, that would be good also.
Well you can give me song suggestions even if you dont know how I can learn it.
I really just like pop and rock a lot just so you know. Almost anything goes. Thank you!

Ber asked: I can play regular guitar pretty well, but they only have bass guitars in band. I would like to know if that would give me an advantage to being able to learn easier or if that would make it more complicated. I understand different people learn different ways, but how was it for you and what’s your opinion?
One of my friends plays 4 string electric bass, and he said he might teach me. Should I look anything up or do anythig to prepare for learning bass?

Derrick asked: I just started learning guitar on a more than casual basis.
I just started learning guitar on a more than casual basis. I can play by ear but I realize that I am cheating myself out of an education. I need an explanation for the why do scales work and how they fit together.
I understand learning scales are fundamental to everything else but what I don’t understand is why? Why do they work together. Math behind it? Etc. I could quite possibly mind numbingly memorize them but that wouldn’t mean that I had a full understanding of it.
I actually play keyboard by ear also and I have memorized the layout already. I have tried books and they all start out with crappy excercises involving ode to joy and auld lang syne.

Samantha asked: I’m 16 and always wanted to learn how to play guitar. I previously took piano lessons when I was 13, quit ( Piano isn’t my cup of tea ), and I think I might want to try taking guitar lessons. How difficult is it to start learning guitar compared to other instruments if you have a teacher? I played the saxaphone back in 5th-8th grade for the school band, but I never was that great at it. Thanks!
